Today in class you had a chance to talk through some ideas with your Smart Squads about Piggy and the ending of the novel. Here, I'd like to give you an opportunity to share your thoughts in writing!
Respond to one of the following questions in depth and detail. Write in a 3E fashion (eloquent, effective, exhaustive) as you delve into the prompt like the awesome analyzer you've become!
1.) Why did Golding end the novel in the way that he did, with a deus ex machina? What does he achieve ending it this way that wouldn't have been achieved had he ended it differently?
OR
2.) Why do we never learn Piggy's real name? What point does Golding make by not including it? What about his death? How does it compare to Simon's, and what do the differences signify?
You have until WEDNESDAY at 9am to respond to this prompt! :)
